HOW TO CARE FOR SKIN IN WINTER?

The coldest times of the year has arrived, winter is such a fun time but it might be little harsh on your beauty routine. Chapped lips , hat hair, and dry and flaky skin got you down already?

Dont worry and stress about it, that will just make it worst, instead help your skin maintain the glow and make it more healthy!

“Beautiful skin requires commitment, not miracles”

Your skin’s needs changes with age, temperature, humidity and the products you use. Dont assume that your routine can stay the same forever. Skin types vary but the five main categories are a normal skin, an oily skin, dry skin, sensitive skin and combination of these.

Dry skin is a common winter issue for all kinds of skin but with proper care and attention a healthy and radiant skin is possible in winter times too. Check on some easy winter hacks that will be helpful in protecting your skin :

THE BASIC SKIN CARE TIPS DURING WINTERS :

#USE A GENTLE CLEANSER:

Bacteria can block pores, causing oil to clog and create blackheads/whiteheads, blemishes, and over all dull complexion. Never sleep with makeup on your skin, that will result you in breaking down your collagen, leading to fine lines and wrinkles!

Stick to shorter and lukewarm showers, even though long hot showers give you much more warmth, but they also strip away essential oils that your body creates to keep your skin from drying out.

#UP THE EXFOLIATION:

Exfoliation is a method used to remove dead skin cells. When ignored, these cells grow on your skin and make it dry,  resulting into blemishes and acne. Dry skin makes your body work overtime to create more oil which causes clogged pores. Exfoliation rejuvenates skin , removes dead cells and  makes skin appear softer and healthier. It also accelerates the process to reveal more radiant skin and stimulate cell renewal by increasing blood circulation which is almost like your skin be able to breath fresh.

Oh! Don’t forget  to moisturize after exfoliating. Infact moisturize more often than normal using good quality gentle oil-based moisturizers containing SPF.  Sunscreen is a must during winters too, since UVB and UVA rays are anyways there even when it is cold.

#HYDRATE AND NOURISH CONSISTENTLY:

It is important to Hydrate your skin both internally and externally. An obvious but most important tip to help your skin in hydration is to drink plenty of water. During winters you do not  feel much thirsty but your body still requires the same quantity of water to maintain the ph level. Try eating as much as healthy you can because they say it right  you are what you eat ! Include variety of foods in your diet that are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, anti-oxidants and iron and zinc like oyster, walnuts, fish, root vegetables, fresh fruits etc. Beyond this you should also invest in a moisturizer that protects and soothes your skin during these colder months because Hydrated skin leads to  beautiful skin.

#TAKE CARE OF YOUR LIPS:

Chappy and dry lips is the most common problem during winters. Our lips dry out ten times faster than the rest of the skin on your face, so it’s more important to use extra protection.   Lip balms are the most basic essentials these times, they moisturize lips and help to heal cracks and split in the skin. Avoid scrubbing and peeling skin especially when it is flaky and dry, otherwise it will just lead in creating more cracks and sore on your lips which can make things go worse. Apply lip balm that are ointment based which contain petroleum jelly, essential oils or glycerin. You can also try using natural home remedies like honey, coconut oil, aloe vera gel.  Treat cracks right away ,otherwise they just get worse!

Keeping your winter skin soft and healthy is not a difficult task, with just some basic changes in your skincare routine you can have great skin on your face and body all year long. And remember no skin care routine results wonder until you make sure you take care of your beauty sleep and avoid over stressing! Beautiful you inside always makes you much more beautiful you outside!
